Jihan Woods is a self-proclaimed Christmas fanatic. As the mom of 2 twin boys, she has passed down many family holiday traditions. One of those traditions is visiting Santa Claus. Prior to developing Find Black Santa, Woods was on the hunt for several years to find a Santa that resembled her family. Time and time again, she was disappointed by the lack of information available on internet searches for events featuring Santas of color. She decided to take up this task and create a resource for families to have easy access to local events and Santas for hire.
What started out as an idea, quickly flourished in to sketches of app screens and a successful Kickstarter campaign raising over $5,000 in 30 days! With the help of supporters all over the world who believed in her idea, Find Black Santa launched in Winter 2018/2019 in the App Store and Google Play. The app has been featured on multiple media outlets including Good Morning Texas, Black Enterprise and AfroTech. Woods continues to attract a strong network of supporters on her Instagram and Facebook social media accounts who are just as passionate about the project. Her ultimate goals are to diversify the meaning of Christmas and spread joy each holiday season.
